WHY GOLDEN EXISTS
We just wanted a House Guy.
One of our founders, Evan, grew up with a father who could do anything to a house. Sweat a pipe, hang drywall, wire a room, then build a piece of furniture nice enough to keep. He tried to pass it down. It did not take.
That is most people now. A generation of homeowners who are very good at something else.
Then you buy a house.
Nothing about owning one is hard. It is just endless. Something breaks, and now you are looking for a plumber. Reading reviews written by strangers about work you have no way to judge. Calling three, hearing back from one. Waiting on a quote and wondering whether the number is fair. Then it gets fixed, and you have learned nothing you can use, because the next thing to break is the garage door and you start over from zero.
That is a second job. Nobody mentions it when they hand you the keys.
What was missing was simple. One team that already knew the house. Someone to text. Someone who would say what it needed, find the right person for it, make sure it got done right, and never once hand the managing back.
A House Guy.
It did not exist. So we built it.
Our standard of service did not come from a leaking faucet
Before Golden, our founders spent twelve years keeping a family member in his own home. He had dementia. The home became their responsibility.
They learned things in that stretch that a broken water heater will never teach you. They learned the drag on their time when someone does not call back. They learned the difference between a company that does shoddy work for the highest possible price and then hides and a company that does things the right way and is accountable for it. They learned just how low the bar is for customer communication in an industry that claims to be a "Service".
The biggest thing they learned: When taking care of a home what is at stake is the person, their well-being both mentally and physically. Not just the house and its four walls.
Three things we decided before we had a single customer
01.WE TELL YOU FIRST
Our Ethos: No news is worse than bad news, and bad news is worse than good news.
We communicate at a cadence we would want as customers, which is more often than this industry does. We would rather tell you something early than have you find it.02.OUR VENDORS STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK
Every vendor warranties their own work, and we confirm it before the job starts. We choose for track record and insurance, not for the lowest bid from someone who may not be around in six months. And they charge you what they would have charged if you had called them yourself.
03.PROBLEM SOLVERS, NOT A SALES TEAM
On anything above about the size of your monthly mortgage payment, you get two quotes by default. We will tell you when the cheaper fix is the right fix. We will tell you when something can wait. We will tell you when the answer is to do nothing at all.
What is actually behind your Home Manager
Every home is assigned a Home Manager. Not a queue, not a dispatcher, not whoever picks up. The same name every time, on every message, who has been inside your house and does your quarterly visit personally.
They are not working alone. Behind them sits a vetted vendor bench across every trade, a record of every appliance, serial number and repair in your house, and a standard that does not change with who is on shift.
